How to grow plants faster with aquaponics system?

Aquaponics is a method of growing fish and plants together. It is like a mini ecosystem which you can setup on your backyard or inside home. On this system the fish waste is used as a fertilizer for the plants and the plants filter the water for the fish to survive. So, if you are planning about an ecosystem on your home from where you can get organic foods all year round, you should consider the option. But there are few techniques which can help you growing plants faster. In this article, I am going to discuss about these. 

1)    Choose the right plants

The main condition of growing plants faster on aquaponics is choosing the right plants. Without choosing the right plants you can’t expect to grow them quickly. You can actually grow any kind of plants with the aquaponics. But it is better not to try everything and stick to the plants which have the pH balance between 6.8 and 7. Those plants are ideal which pH balance is neutral. So, choosing the right plants will make your job of growing plants easier.

2)    Choosing the right fish

Not only the right plants but you should also choose the right fish for your aquaponics system. You can’t choose any kind of fish for the aquaponics. Depending on the temperature, environmental condition, you should choose the right type of fish to grow on the aquaponics. You should also consider your budget while choosing fish. It is better if you keep one or two kind of fishes on the aquaponics system to avoid complications and grow fish well. 

3)    Choosing the right grow bed

One needs to choose the right grow bed to grow plants. You will find different type of grow beds like media grow bed, nutrient grow bed, deep water culture system, and so on. Among all the media based grow bed is the most preferred one. The system is easier to build and maintain. So, you can get a wide range of options to grow plants. 

4)    Choosing the right aquaponics tank

Choosing the right aquaponics tank is the most important part if you want to grow fish and plants on the aquaponics. Depending on the space of your home, you can choose the size of the tanks for aquaponics. Many sizes of tanks are available for the aquaponics system. The bigger the tank is, the more you can grow plants and fishes there. For a standard size, you can go for 1000 liter tank.

5)    Water maintenance system

Then another important factor to consider while getting an aquaponics system is the water maintenance. As the whole system is depended on water level, you have maintain the water properly.
